Irwin Sparkes (The Hoosiers) intimate gig in aid of the Mayor’s charities

April 24, 2023 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm

Irwin Sparkes lead singer and songwriter of The Hoosiers plays a special intimate gig at The Hove Club 24th April for the Mayor’s Charities

The Hoosiers formed in Indianapolis, Indiana but are English. Believe it or not, the two founder members were in the US on a sports scholarship. The band consists of members Irwin Sparkes (lead vocals, lead guitar) and Alan Sharland (drums, percussion, vocals).

Their first single “Worried About Ray” reached number 5 on the UK Singles Chart in July 2007. In October 2007, they released their debut album The Trick to Life, which reached number one in the album charts. The band released their second top ten album The Illusion of Safety on 16 August 2010 and was preceded by the lead single “Choices”, released on 1 August 2010, and which reached the UK top 20.

In January after seeing support act Scarlett Chapman’s charity vidoeo of ‘Home’ supporting Brighton & Hove homeless charity Off The Fence, Irwin contacted the charity to offer his services for an acoustic gig to support his now home city, Brighton & Hove.

The band is going back on the road from the beginning of June, ahead of releasing a new album.

This intimate gig is a unique opportunity to see Irwin perform new and old material in the close-up and personal surroundings of The Hove Club.

12 year old singing prodigy Scarlett Chapman will support Irwin on the evening.
